A student has been exposed to the now widespread (and still spreading rapidly) Covid-19 virus, which is now viral worldwide and is highly contagious, yet no extreme measures are being taken, accordingly to this extreme situation. The student is now in quarantine which is the procedure for 14 days. However this even still poses many questions and a situation that needs more in-depth rectification.

Measures have been taken to "sanitize" and "disinfect" the property. We have no proof other than the assurance of a schoolwide notification via email by the superintendent. Just how well has the school been "sanitized"? Are we talking napkins wet with water? 

If the student has been in close contact with said infected person, that means around six feet, and droplets or residue from the infected person's coughs and sneezes have surely made "contact" with the student. Precautions must be taken and we must assume that this student has unfortunately contracted the virus. This student has also attended school after contact. This means that this student has been in 6 periods of classes full of other students, and a teacher, numbering to around 31 individuals that have either touched, touched something that the contracted individual has touched and also been in close contact. Keep in mind that this is one period. Now there are 6 more periods of this situation that repeat over and over. Between those times are breaks, recess and lunch, and during that time... I hope that it is rather obvious enough and that you can infer what would have happened. I cannot emphasize the absolute gravity of the situation here, and I hope you have fully understood what I am trying to get across.

Now back to the issue of the "measures" that are being put into place. Schools around our area have already been shut down, and yet... Just what is our district doing? I cannot say that I am infuriated but rather extremely baffled. This virus, the Covid-19 is not in any way to be taken lightly. I say that we need to shut down Taylor Middle School for the good of my kids and everyone else's. 

Education is very important, that is one thing I am not able to emphasize enough as well. However, if someone is not fit to be educated... Is there any point? My kid's health as well as, well, everyone else's... Yeah, that needs to be put in front of education. Definitely. Thank you for taking the time to read this and please sign the petition accordingly.
