My fellow human-being, whether you are a Christian or not, I think you would agree with me that we are looking at a cruel and unnecessary case of detainment and possible incarceration by the Communist North Korean regime of a 75-year-old South Australian man and Hong Kong resident named John Short. What was he arrested and detained for? The "crime" of possessing and distributing Gospel tracts (apparently only leaving one of these Gospel tracts in a Buddhist temple) in North Korea! Hardly an atrocious or hostile act by any moral standard, but for this "crime", he may face up to 15 years of imprisonment and hard labour should the DPRK choose to convict him. Even though Mr. John Short is reportedly healthy, I personally don't think that a 75-year-old senior can withstand imprisonment and hard labour for very long - so I plead with you, my fellow human-being, to take a minute or two to search your heart for that compassion within, and then to sign this petition, so that we can collectively move the appropriate authorities and public servants to take proper action!

Ask yourself, what if this was someone that you loved and cared deeply for? Wouldn't you want to have other people petitioning with you with the common hope that your loved one would be released and be allowed to return home to be re-united with you? Does signing this petition really cost you anything? Is a human life not even worth a few minutes of your time? I trust that your conscience within you will give you the answer to those questions, and will guide you to do the right thing. Show mercy to others, and mercy will be shown to you when you need it the most! If it is laid on your heart to do so, please also take a few extra minutes to sign the other related petitions addressed to the Foreign Affairs Ministers of the countries who should have an interest in seeing Mr. John Short released. Thank you for your kind and compassionate heart, and may you and your loved ones be blessed!

To our fellow Christian brothers and sisters in the faith, this is addressed to you! There shouldn't be any reason for you not to sign this petition, because I remember that the Commandment from Our Lord Jesus Christ (if you do indeed profess to follow Him) is to love one another as He Has Loved you (John 13:34; John 15:12) Bro. John Short is our fellow brother and labourer In Christ, and even though he knew the risk of venturing into North Korea, he still continued to serve God despite these risks because not very many Christians are willing to go (Romans 1:16; 2 Timothy 3:12; 1 Peter 4:16). There is not much we can do with our limited resources and political reach, but we can, as a unified Body of believers In Jesus Christ, pray earnestly for God's Will To Be Done because God Hears and Answers prayers that are offered according to His Will (Hebrews 4:16; 1 John 5:14-15; Mark 11:24). We can also take a few minutes of our time to sign this petition and pray that Our Lord Jesus Christ Will Work through it. Please do it now! The Lord Jesus Christ Will Reward those who labour genuinely for His Kingdom's sake (Mark 9:41; 2 Corinthians 5:9-10)!

I would like to mention that even though we are praying for Bro. John Short's release, God's Will Is ALWAYS THE BEST. God's Ways Are Higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9)! This situation could potentially turn into a rare opportunity for those in the North Korean Prison to hear the Gospel, just like in Acts 16 where Paul and Silas, through their imprisonment, gets an opportunity to preach the Gospel to the Philippian jailer (Philippians 1:12-14; 2 Corinthians 4:8-12).

Anyhow, let us do our part for Bro. John Short, as fellow brothers and sisters In Christ, and sign this petition! Please also pray for him and his family to be Comforted By The Lord Jesus Christ! Thank you and may The Lord Jesus Christ Bless you abundantly for your labour of love!
