Magee Consolidated School was formed from different black churches that had their own smaller schools.  They joined their vision together and built one  school that was named Magee Consolidated school, which later became McLaurin School.  The school has a lot of history and value to offer the community.  Many of the Alumni went on to become teachers, nurses and other professionals. Our ancestors sacrificed a lot to make sure that their children received an education.  We are trying to make the old school a historical site in order to preserve its history.

Our goal is to turn it into a museum so people can bring their kids to learn their  culture and history. We are asking that everyone come together and let it be known that we love our school. We want to restore it so it can  manifest into something great for  Simpson County and surrounding areas.  We want to be able share our school experience with the younger generation.  With all the crime that is committed today  by our youth,  we as parents and Black Leaders need to step up and show them that there is a better eay. We can get this done by going back to the ways of our ancestors, where it took a village to raise a child. We as adults can get this done.
