Bryan Bryans started this petition to Ms. Coronel and

Ms. Coronel's Grade 11 University Functions Unit 1 Test Was Not Fair!

We were assigned homework that did not cover absolute value functions despite it being on the test when we were told it would not be.

We were given 60 minutes for the test even though we were told we would get 75 minutes. Even that was not enough as many students required 120-150 minutes to complete the test. The test was too long and students made mistakes due to them being overwhelmed and stressed out. The time overage did not allow for students to look back on their work and fix any mistakes they would have otherwise have been able to catch.

Additionally, on September 24th's Google Meet we were told that since there were word problems in our homework, there would be word problems in our test. In the ENTIRE UNIT there were only 2 word-problems and both were in 1.5. Meanwhile, over half the test was comprised of word-problems.

Some students were able to upload graphs, while others were having issues uploading their graphs. This could lead to marking inequality as the argument could be made that the test was not completed. However, this is not the fault of the students as it was not under their control and it was the platform that the teacher chose that would not allow them to submit their work. Students should not have to pay the consequences of the system not working.

With the additional stress of Covid-19 on student's minds, adapting to the new education model has not been easy. Ms. Coronel, along with other teachers across the board should sympathize with students and the struggles we are facing in these unprecidented times. This test is not an accurate reflection of the student's knowledge. This assessment should either not be counted or a re-evaluation should take place. Going forward, evaluations should be made reasonably for the students to display their knowledge given the change in the education model this academic year.
