Helen Baird started this petition to Mrs Lakey and

The school are planning to close the grounds off from the community outside of school hours, weekends and holiday periods. The grounds are used by many generations of children and their families. It is a valuable community area for local residents and has been missed due to closure through COVID19, prior to this many children and their families used this community area, numbering hundreds over the years since the school was originally opened. The school grounds provide a unique opportunity for young people to spend time together, socialise and keep fit. The grounds provide a safe space where children have learnt to ride bikes, played football games with friends and family, rugby, cricket, races, basketball, skateboarding etc. The school grounds can give a safe play area outside of school hours. It also provides safe access from one side of the village to the other instead of walking through busy traffic on the narrow road with a lack of pavement through the main village, which is a safety aspect that parents value, which allows children more freedom within the village after school hours.

We propose to:

1. Reject the proposed plan to close the school grounds after school hours/holidays.
2. Fully consult with local residents on any future proposals
