The EV charger is highly valued by the local community and businesses as well as tourists and other visitors who contribute to the vibrancy and economy of the area. It allows electric vehicle owners to 'refuel' just like petrol/diesel vehicles at the Tutukaka Store. Tutukaka businesses have committed to being environmentally conscious and plastic free.  Encouraging the use of electric vehicles is part of this environmental protection ethos.

Mrs Barrell and her husband are the owners of the property occupied by Schnappa Rock restaurant and the old Dive Tutukaka premises.  The charger intrudes just 20cm over the boundary line on to their property and can be moved so it does not impinge but she is insisting that the charger be removed completely.  It is imperative that we convince her that the EV charger should be retained as it is a real asset to the area and encourages present and future customers to businesses on her property also.
