Help ensure my friends and I, who cannot walk , are not forgotten about in NI.

I am almost 2 years old and I should be running around creating lots of mischief.... I try really hard but sadly my legs don't work the way other children's do, making it too difficult for me to stand and walk yet.  You see, I was born three months premature along with my twin brother and that brought many risks. My twin brother fought hard but sadly he is now walking with the angels. I can now only dream about walking one day with my older brother & baby sister and playing in the park.

That's where you come in!  My mummy took me to the Buddy Bear Trust (a charity)  in Dungannon when I was 4 months old and they welcomed me into their family. They work with lots of kids just like me offering 1:1 sessions on a weekly basis. Sadly the NHS has limited resources and cannot offer my friends and I the intensive and repetitive therapy we need.

The Buddy Bear school has been open for 25 years, helping lots of kids just like me. It's a place like no other and just makes me smile as soon as I come as I'm surrounded by pictures of all my friends and their many achievements. It is full of so many fantastic toys, a touch screen tv, a sage therapy bath, an amazing sensory room and the absolute dedication and love from the staff.

I am only two years old but this school umderstands the importance of early intervention and support: something simply not available anywhere else. The school is the ONLY one in Northern Ireland which offers conductive education which helps me learn new life skills despite my challenges and ensures I am given every opportunity to try. My teachers are my friends who never tell me I can't do things, they tell me "it is possible", we will help you be the best you can be.

It sounds amazing doesn't it.... But I'm sad because this special school which gives me hope and the intense movement therapy I need, could close simply because it has been forgotten about. It has stayed open all these years through the exhausting fundraising efforts of a loyal few and despite gaining support of all our Northern Ireland politicians, winning a Pride of Britain for fundraising and a Spirit of NI Award for Education in 2016 - the Education Authority have yet to allocate any funding to allow it to remain open.

Please help to change that. Please sign this petition to ask that this school is funded in the same way as other special schools within the Education system are. It already has an excellent inspection report. This school is so badly needed as it is specific for children like me who cannot walk yet. I simply wouldn't get the movement therapy I need everyday anywhere else.

Please share as widely as possible with all your friends and family.

Most 2 year olds want a sack full of toys for Christmas. I just want your help to ensure this very special school is funded so that maybe ..just maybe one day I can walk beside my friends to play. Thank you xx
