Presse Release 6 August 2014 Nicolay Koblyakov : Russie-Libertés addresses Petition to the President and Prime Minister of Bulgaria On Friday 1 August 2014 the Regional Court of Sophia released Nicolay Koblyakov on the condition that he remains in Bulgaria. We are happy that Nicolay Koblyakov is no longer in police custody. However, he still risks extradition to Russia. Of course it is the responsibility of the Bulgarian justice system to decide in an independent manner on whether or not he should be extradited to Russia and it is not our intention to interfere in their independent decision. However, we would like to attract the attention of the Bulgarian authorities to the case of Nicolay KOBLYAKOV and on the necessity, in light of his militant activism and in respect of the European Convention on Human Rights to which Bulgaria is a party, to prevent his extradition to Russia. Consequently, we address today to the President and the Prime Minister of Bulgaria the petition “No to extradition to Russia of Nicolay KOBLYAKOV, activist for human rights!” signed by more than 6000 people on the site change.org.
