Removal of the girls reservation in iits

With already existing caste based reservation policy in the leading institutions of country like iits and nits , no further reservations (gender based, 20% girls quota) be made at premier institution IIT, as this would discourage merit.
Yes there is less male to female ratio at the campuses, but the reservation should not come at expense of merit. With already cut throat competition for IITs further reservation would do no good but harm only.
There are only 11000 seats at iits of which according to proposed quota about 2200 would be left over the girl candidates, there by denying seat to another candidate even though he has more marks. With already caste based reservation in play, merit is overlooked, further reservation means there would be no value to merit.
I'm not saying there should be no reservation but 20% is way too much, as other candidates whose performance is better should not be overlooked just because of quota. No gender based discrimination should be done at all.
A solution to this problem may be scrapping either one of the quotas- "caste based" or "gender based" completely
My request to Shri Prakash Javadekar ji, Honorable Education Minister of India and R Subrahmanyam additional secretary (TE) of education ministry to please look up into this matter immediately as this concerns our future.
PS: The photo attached shows that only 4900 seats in general category of which 980 are reserved for girls, similarly obc 2719 of which 544 for girls. St is 733 of which 147 for girls and Sc is 1454 of which 291 for girls.
