ATTENTION: DISTRICT SCHOOLS INSPECTOR – MR MANYADZA

04 September 2020

Dear Mr. Manyadza

RE: PETITION AGAINST NYATSIME COLLEGE

As the parents of Nyatsime College, we are aggrieved by the total disregard of the parents’ body by the school.

A meeting was called for via a WhatsApp group which only 200 parents are in, unlike the norm where it should be published in the press for every parent to be made aware. Only 40 hand-picked parents attended the meeting. Our concern is how can 40 parents out of 900 represent our views on such drastic figures of US250 (e-learning) and US400 for full term tuition as highlighted in the letter dated 01 September 2020 signed by the Principal and SDC Chair. And which 40 parents are these as in the groups we have only identified one parent. This meeting is definitely not constitutional as the school should have held a virtual meeting over zoom to get a suitable quorum. We feel the school is imposing their own amount on us.

As civil servants and private sector employees, most parents cannot afford the said fees as most earn an equivalent of US30 to US50 equivalent.

We have requested the Principal as well as the SDC chair to include everyone in the official WhatsApp groups but this has fallen on deaf ears.

We would like this meeting and the imposed fees increase to be disregarded by the Ministry and Nyatsime College to be instructed to follow the proper channels to call for a full quorum to discuss the increase

As parents we propose USD30 for e- learning and USD 100 for tuition and boarding. We cannot afford the high fees the school is charging.
