Sarah Saqib Ahmad started this petition to Mr. Malik Riaz Hussain

"Free as a bird", so the simile goes. Sounds apt, as that is how birds truly deserve to be, soaring high with their wings spanned out, like little specks tracing the horizon. It is an unfortunate fact that birds in this day and age are kept in captivity for sheer amusement. Such birds, out of their natural habitat and restricted from practising their natural behaviour freely, often show signs of mental disturbance, often as severe as self-mutilation. The birds caged at Green Valley Hypermarket in Bahria Town Rawalpindi-Islamabad are no different. Imprisoned and kept in an environment drastically different from the habitat they are naturally adapted to, they are beginning to show signs of distress ranging from the explicit urge to flee to continual squawking and noise-making. It is requested to Mr Malik Riaz, founder and chairman of Bahria Town, to arrange for the birds to either be shifted to an aviary, or set free, in order for them to have a quality of life which they are entitled to as a basic animal right.
