St.Patricks Catholic College needs to keep Mr.Smith

My daughter, Elouise, is in Year 10 and moving into Year 11 in September. I am extremely concerned that so many brilliant teachers are leaving due to what has been going on in the school. As a parent, I would want some of them to stay on if they were able to because I believe that my daughter has been taught well in those particular lessons. Sadly, most of these teachers can’t stay because they’ve got other jobs. All, that is, except for Mr Smith and so I want to do whatever I can to convince the people in power to get him to stay on as an English teacher and I need your support.
My daughter has been taught English by Mr Smith since she was in Year 8 and she has made fantastic progress in this time. He is a passionate and inspirational teacher, a great role model to the kids and you can see how the pupils benefit from not only his teaching but his presence around the school. He makes a massive difference to the lives of the pupils he encounters and is thought of by many pupils past and present as one of their favourite teachers.
He is a Thornaby man through and through, absolutely loves the school and is a vital link between the school and the local community. Parents see him all of the time around Thornaby and he will always stop and chat to parents and pupils alike, no matter when or where. He is the public face of the school in the town and a positive one at that.
He does not deserve what has happened to him this year. His pupils don’t deserve this either, particularly my daughter’s Year 10 class who have had him consistently for the past 3 years and parents have had no issues whatsoever – I am delighted with Elouise’s progress and that is down to both Elouise and Mr Smith’s hard work and dedication.
I strongly believe that the school is making a really poor decision in not finding room for him to stay on as an English teacher. They can’t see how much he brings to the table and how much he does for the school, most of it in his own time. If the school wants to give parents some really good news for a change and give pupils a massive morale boost as it enters a new era under new leadership, then they need to keep one of the good guys on board. His unwavering dedication and commitment to the pupils of the school will only flourish and prosper under supportive and forward-thinking leadership. He is the kind of teacher I want my daughter to be taught by at St. Patrick’s. And I know many parents and pupils feel exactly the same way.
Whoever has the power to do so needs to get Mr Smith to stay at St. Patrick’s Catholic College, whatever the cost. If the school is serious about rapid improvement and wanting to ensure that it returns to be an excellent Catholic school, then they need committed people like him to assist in the effort.
Please help me to convince the school to keep him on. It will be a massive loss to the school and the local community if he leaves in the summer.
