Mr. Enda Kenny, Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland: Support a Bill to ban the cruel practise of live hare coursing in Ireland

Live hare coursing in Ireland involves setting pairs of greyhounds after captive wild hares in wire-enclosed fields or race courses. Though the greyhounds are muzzled, they can injure or kill the hares by forcibly striking or mauling them, or tossing them into the air. Though a majority of Irish people (according to opinion polls) oppose this blood sport, it remains legal and each year thousands of hares are rounded up to serve as bait in cruel coursing events.
