We are the students of Ms. Mines tenth grade H Math classes,

Today we became aware of the fact that Ms. Mines would no longer be teaching at Hunter next year. This was a huge shock to everyone, as she has been an absolutely amazing math teacher. There has never been a day when Ms. Mines has not finished her lesson plan before the class ended. Her lesson plans are clearly well thought out and there is never a single moment wasted in her classroom. Additionally, Ms. Mines has been an extremely approachable teacher who has always been willing to meet with students outside of class. Many of us, including myself, started out this year feeling insecure about our math skills and capabilities. Ms. Mines' kindness and perseverance has shown us that we can get better at math and has given all of the confidence to love and learn this subject. Furthermore, Ms. Mines is by far one of the most hardworking teachers I have ever had at Hunter. Despite being Robotics adviser, she has never taken longer than two days to return tests or quizzes. Additionally, she has always made herself available to students despite her busy schedule. Ms. Mines always responds to our emails almost immediately after they are sent out. It saddens so many of us today to hear that we might never get the chance to have a class with this amazing teacher. Often times, H math students feel neglected in the Hunter math community, as the fact that we are in the "less advanced" math class leaves us feeling insecure. Ms. Mines has inspired and shown us that despite being in H math we all have the ability to think about math in a critical and inquisitive way. Ms. Mines cares so much about her students, and we all hope she can continue to inspire H math students to continue persevering in math.

Sincerely,

The students of Ms. Mines
