The dress code of Palm Beach Lakes Community High School expresses that shorts are prohibited. We believe this to be both an inconvenient and unnecessary restriction on what students wear on campus. It is unfair to all students that the school allows skirts and not shorts for many reasons. A few being that shorts are more gender-neutral, there are no apparent, reasonable, or fair arguments as to why we shouldn't be allowed to wear shorts, and finally, in addition to all this, shorts being a more preferable article of clothing for most students makes it more than apparent that shorts being permitted in our school is self-evidently the better choice. This is why the students of Palm Beach Lakes High School, and others, respectfully but strongly ask that shorts no longer be restricted for students to wear.
