Lakshmi Kumar started this petition to DIRECTOR GENERAL Mr Danduraj Ghimire

Mt. Everest has lost the respect that it deserves. It has become more like a ride at Disney Land than a National Treasure. Due to this, not only has it become overcrowded and littered with garbage, it has become a death trap for both the climbers and the Sherpas. I would like to see the rules for receiving permits to climb this natural wonder changed so that only those with the endurance, skill and strength to not put themselves and others at risk be allowed. There should be a testing program put in place that can prove that climbers are fit to climb Mt. Everest.

Also, while, there is already a deposit of $4,000 given with the understanding that it will be returned when the climbers bring down their garbage, clearly this is not working! To insure that everyone cleans up after themselves, a fine should also be given to those not bringing down their garbage as well the certification of the climb should be withheld.

Unfit climbers not only risk the loss of their own lives, but put the lives of the Sherpas and other climbers at greater risk of injury and death. All climbs to the top of Mt. Everest should be ethical and ecological.
