Why this petition matters

Started by MARINA GUIN

I want to reduce the amount of plastic that JPMS produces. I see so many people who get school lunch, and when they throw it away,  they end up throwing it in the wrong bins. If we use organic and recycled materials instead of plastic it won’t be as big of a deal if we throw them in the wrong bins. We need to convince the district to put some money into this issue. Signing a petition like this could help let this problem be known by the school. My goal is to get at least 600 signatures, so when we confront the school about it we have a large number of students who agree with us.

Having a change like this could impact our local environment greatly. We could reduce the amount of plastic Minneapolis produces just from our one school. If this petition is a success, it could spread to other schools as well. For this to work, we need to spread the news about being more aware.

Now I know that you might think that this is “weird,” or “not a big deal,” or that “it doesn’t matter.” But this definitely is a big deal.  That’s why it’s super important that you try hard. Share this with as many people as you can. Let you and your peers become fully aware of the problems with plastic. For this to really work and change something, we all need to help the change.
