Why this petition matters

Started by Farena Bashir

I ask the new Health Secretary Sajid Javid and the transport secretary Grant Shapps and the MP Naz Shah to change the qurantine rules for bereaved people and people with deep underlying health issues.

I ask the Health Secretary to look at the deep impact a bereaved person has when they are faced with the death of a loved one. Imagine not being able to be with your loved one when they take their last breath?

Sadly, this has happened to Akhtar Mahmood and Hanfia Mahmood  both with serious health issues.  Mr and Mrs  Mahmood were  visiting Pakistan before it was placed on the Red List.  When their son Jamal Mahmood travelled to Pakistan with his young family to help his ill parents return home, they recieved the devastating news that their beloved daughter had passed away.

No parent wants to hear this news and let alone 1000's of miles from home. To top this you are unable to return home because you have to qurantine. You are waiting to bury your child. Imagine the pain and hurt you feel?  Just think you are also elderly and have underlying health issues? I ask the Health Secretary and Transport Secretary to change the isolation rule for bereaved and highly sick people. Let them qurantine at home and attend the funeral for their children, brother, sister, mum or dad.
