Why this petition matters

Started by Andrew Tizzard

MP's are elected by the public and represent by consent of the people. Following a democratic referendum held in 2016 the country voted by a narrow majority to leave the EU. This is democracy in action. Parliament was tasked as result of the referendum to negotiate an orderly exit from the EU and deliver this on a specified date.

MP's have 3 times voted down the 'Brexit' agreement  without offering an alternative vision. Now they have begun the process of voting against leaving the EU without a Deal. The position now exists that we have never a Deal nor a No Deal scenario. By undertaking this process MP's have effectively made a vote of 'No Confidence' in the government yet they refuse to hold a General Election. As Parliament has shown its self unable to find a suitable answer to the 2016 Referendum it should be dissolved and a General Election held. This would allow for a platform on which the question of Brexit could be fought with the result providing a clear peoples mandate for the future direction of this Nation and Brexit - whatever that may be.

Whatever your individual position on Brexit, a General Election would allow us, the people, to 'shout loud' about both our vision for the future and our utter distain at the manner in which we have been represented.
