Freedom Fighters for Tatem started this petition to Minister of Education MP Diallo Rabain and

The powers that be are attempting to close T N Tatem Middle School because they feel as if it has been demonstrated that all public middle schools can be accommodated in the other schools and that enrollment continues to decrease.  It was also clearly stated that the desired permanent closure is not financial at all.  At present the school is being utilized by various sports ventures. Please understand that the school is not in as bad of shape as the public has been made to believe.  There are only about 3 rooms that need attention and that mold abatement has already occurred recently.

The persons who are being affected by this closure are the staff, former students, parents/guardians, the Warwick community and businesses whom the students and teachers boost and our upcoming feeder school children and parents.  Closing T N Tatem not only kills a legacy and decades of history, but it changes the entire infrastructure of the Warwick Community.   Additionally, the ramifications for teachers, parents and students seen and unseen are unfathomable as relationships and collegial  rapports are put to rest.  Presently there are serious implications occurring with the temporary closure of T N Tatem that clearly demonstrate that a permanent closure would be a terrible idea. Our students deserve individual attention that caters to their needs whether it be socially, academic and/or emotionally.

Lastly, the loving rivalry of sports competitions, the support of our community partners, the great programs started to include the gardening club, Teen Peace and the BRIDGE program just to name a few will have all been in vain.  Let's keep our beloved Warwick School (the only feeder middle school in the area) alive and our community alive by saving T N Tatem from closure especially in light of the fact that it was made clear that it is not financial but more logistical.  If TN Tatem remains open then our Warwick family will be reunited and the legacy and community outreach continues and if it is closed a huge legacy dies that has served as an important part of Warwick history and that would be a travesty.  Be a part of the change of keeping TN Tatem open by signing the petition and being participatory in all matters concerning the proposed permanent closure of the school.  Let your voices be heard!
