Dangers of dog walkers not bagging & removing dog faeces from the countryside

In response to the very real problem of dog poo bags being left in the countryside, MP Anne Main is recommending that, in the countryside, dog walkers cease to bag the dog faeces, instead flicking it off the path into the undergrowth.
There are very few truly wild places, most are managed and this suggestion will put the staff and volunteers who manage the reserves, estates and footpaths at risk. Having been part of a team managing an urban nature reserve for eight years, the gross reality of what happens if you hit dog poo when brush cutting pathside vegetation makes a lasting impact....one that no protective equipment can fully save you from.
The action of encouraging dog owners not to bag and remove their pets waste will increase the risk of Toxocariasis to land managers and visitors, exploring the countryside alike. This is not just something that is an urban problem.
