The Class of 2027 has missed out on so much due to the pandemic that began in 2020. They missed the last quarter of 5th grade in school with friends and teachers and having the opportunity to say goodbye. They missed their 5th grade end of the year field trips, activities, picnics and celebrations. They missed having a moving up ceremony with their teachers, friends and family. Then they began middle school virtually and/or hybrid which made the transition to middle school very difficult for them physically, socially and emotionally. The parents and guardians of this class from Sagamore, Samoset and Seneca are asking Sachem Central School District to please consider having a moving up ceremony for these students as these kids have already lost so much and should be celebrated. We celebrate the achievements of students who are in National Junior Honor Society, sports, and other academic achievements but why not celebrate every student??? Thank you for considering this.
