MoviePass offered "a movie a day, everyday of the year" for $115. Over two million people subscribed to this service. After taking the customers money, they changed the policy, to make their promise undeliverable.
In an industry that releases one or two movies a week, it is impossible to watch a movie a day, unless you are allowed to watch your favorites, multiple times. When asked about multiple viewings of the same movie, MoviePass agreed that seeing your favorites over again was permissable.
Recently, MoviePass forced its users to update the app needed to use their passes, and in that update, they made a rule that you can only watch a movie once. Thereby taking away any reasonable effort to see a movie a day, all year.
They have violated Truth in Advertising laws by this bait and switch tactic. When asked about it, they just say "Refer to the Updated Terms of Service".
