Move FUHSD Learning Online
Move FUHSD Learning Online
The Fremont Union High School District (FUHSD) should go online at least temporarily to avoid the spread of the highly transmissible COVID-19 Omicron variant. There have been no mandates for vaccination or testing in the district, making the risk of transmission even higher.
From anecdotal evidence, many students and teachers feel unsafe at school indoors with several groups of 20-40 students in a classroom 5 days a week. Although there is a remote learning alternative, courses for many students aren't offered. This petition is an informal way of collecting more quantifiable evidence and can be used to supplement the case for online learning.
For reference, the 7-day case average in Santa Clara County went from 265 cases on Dec. 21st to 1,126 cases on Dec 31st. (Source) and over 2000 schools have closed over COVID concerns in the first week of 2022. (Source)
Those that sign this petition wish to protect our community by calling to attention the scope of those in support of online learning to FUHSD admin.
If anything here is wrong or you'd like to help, feel free to email me at jbhatia187@student.fuhsd.org. I'm open to criticism and acknowledge the logistical issues (ex. welfare programs, loss of learning) that come with online learning. I am willing to join the debate on the topic and work out the logistics with the FUHSD admin.
