Elizabeth Hanley started this petition to MOSMAN COUNCIL

As a resident of Mosman, I am petitioning Mosman Council to extend the off leash period for dogs to 7 days per week. Currently dogs are not allowed off leash 9-4pm:Sat, Sun and public holidays, which are the times local residents and visitors go to the park to socialise and exercise their dogs.

Our beloved park is one of the last off leash areas in our north shore. Extending hours would provide one designated area for off leash dog exercise and community in the area for residents and visitors to enjoy.

We appreciate that parks should be safe and accessible to all. To this end:

- The Reserve playground is fully fenced unlike the numerous other playgrounds and parks available so parents can be assured of amenity and safety for their kids

- The majority of dog owners are responsible and capable of controlling pets, and there are specific penalties to handle the minority who don’t.

- Frequent users take pride in our amenity and work to keep the park safe and clean.

If soiling or safety are concerns then local residents such as myself can work with council to find targeted solutions rather than using precious Council rangers’ resources to check dogs are leash at 10am on a Sunday morning.
