Save the mountains of Youbou and Meade Creek from logging

The watersheds above Cowichan Lake capture, store, filter and slowly release water to the lake and river. They maintain life throughout the Cowichan Valley and provide drinking water to the community.
In the face of a climate emergency, our neighbourhood forest plays a critical role in sequestering carbon and cooling the air and water.
Logging activities disrupt and redirect surface and underground water. Rains cause soil from clear cuts to enter Cowichan Lake, threatening the habitat of the Cowichan Lake Lamprey, a fish protected by the Species At Risk Act. Springs, once brought to surface by road building and logging, can no longer provide optimum conditions for Kokanee salmon. Turbidity has negative impacts on salmon and trout habitat.
Debris flows and floods resulting from logging activity remain a clear and present danger.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED CALL FOR MOSAIC FOREST MANAGEMENT TO STOP ANY ACTIVITIES THAT WILL RESULT IN LOGGING ON MOUNTS HOLMES AND GOOD NEAR THE COMMUNITIES OF YOUBOU AND MEADE CREEK.
