At the moment the SEISS grant money that self employed people received during COVID (the equivalent of being furloughed if you were employed) is not being taken as part of your income when it comes to applying for a mortgage, despite being taxed as income. 
This is making it impossible for self employed people to either get a mortgage or to increase their mortgage. 
Myself and my husband are both self employed sports coaches - something which was not possible to do for the majority of 2020/2021. We are now trying to move house and have found that the money we received counts for nothing when it comes to a mortgage, therefore leaving us with next to no ‘income’ shown for that year - we have a very respectable income for the years before and now the year after COVID, but this counts for nothing. 
This is going to have a major impact on so many people, and it is unfair that when the choice was out of our hands to work we are then punished for it.
