11.2% of students on college campuses experience rape or sexual assault through physical force or violence. 23.1% of women and 5.4% of men experience this violence. More importantly, this is an issue that has occurred in the AUC for a long period of time. As an incoming freshman it is important to understand consent. With the many cases of sexual assault reported, it is important that we address these issues to assure the students' safety. Students and organizers have had multiple panel discussions about the importance of educating incoming students, to avoid an ongoing issue that happens on this campus. Multiple reports are made a year and  there is still a continuance of violence with students and staff members being perpetrators. Without this being addressed, this violence will continue and students lives will continue to be affected.
