Only 2.8% of producers are female. Because of this almost miniscule number of women that are producers, there is barely any representation or visibility for them. 

All the reasons why the number of female producers is so small stems from the traditional gender norms. Men are usually seen in these "elite" or "in control" roles, while women aren't. This is what needs to change. 

However, the first step is to actually showcase the creations of the small group of female producers that DO engage in this "boss-like" role in the music industry. We need more videos and music documentaries that showcase female producers at work, as most of the ones that are visible/popular online showcase male producers. 

This petition is in support of small female producers, and even bigger female producer names who do not get enough representation. By signing this, you are in support of gender inequality in the higher roles in the music industry.
