There are not enough homeless shelters. Sometimes there is just not enough room. Everyone deserves a place to sleep and a place to get food. Many people are stuck on the streets when it's too cold to be outside or when it's too hot to be outside. A little over half a million people are homeless just in America. Some states have more homeless people than others, but not all of the shelters have enough room to keep all of the people. About 35% of the half a million homeless people do not have a shelter to go to.
