As a parent of a toddler with a gluten allergy (coeliac disease) the daily struggle is real. Whilst most supermarkets have a small free from section they do not offer food that is specific to individual allergens. More and more we see huge promotions and areas in supermarkets offering plant based food for people who choose not to eat meat, but they don’t say this item is meat free apart from pork! Or may contain traces of beef! The free from range offered by the majority of supermarkets covers all the allergens in a very small section which means each item has to be individually checked. Suffering from a food allergy can be potentially life threatening and is not a choice, so why do more supermarkets not promote and sell food designed for people who risk their lives every time they eat? This petition is to highlight the daily struggle anyone with a food allergy has and to ask the supermarkets to support us with this daily struggle.
