Housing Associations and developers need to provide and build more disabled accessible homes for disabled people under the age of 55. They need to stop creating ‘retirement villages’ that sell/let bungalows to able bodied OAP’s, when there are younger disabled people crying out for this type of accommodation. Housing Associations and developers need to look at medical need, rather than age. They need to stop discriminating against disabled people under the age of 55. Bungalows and sheltered housing should be leased and sold according to medical need, not age. It is possible to be disabled and be under the age of 55.
