Texting while driving is extremely dangerous because it impairs your ability to drive, much like driving drunk. Not only are you distracted, but your vision is impaired and you are not focused on the road for seconds at a time.
Texting while driving causes car accidents, deaths of people, and deaths of animals. Traffic crashes are the No. 1 killer of teenagers and many teen traffic deaths are phone related.
It is important that people understand how dangerous texting while driving is because car accidents from texting are preventable and can be reduced if people realize their lives are more important than a text. If you get a text while driving, it can wait.
Actions we will take against texting and driving include:
-Enforcing a $300 fine if caught texting and driving
-Organizing educational presentations to inform people of the dangers
-Reward people who have not texted and driven for a year with $100 off their next car insurance payment.
Please take these steps with us to end the life threatening use of phones in the car.
