Jojo Hall started this petition to Mooresville Town Board of Commissioners

I have moved to Mooresville about a year ago. I loved the feel of the neighborhood and the vibe of having the high school right down the street. But since I have moved in, I have witnessed many cars gunning it down the road once they turn onto fieldstone. To my surprise our posted speed limit is 35, which I personally believe is too high considering the school is so close and we are a residential street. We have kids that walk home from school, runner’s clubs, people walking dogs, moms pushing strollers and kids riding bikes. I would love for people to slow down and for the speed limit to be reduced to 25 on fieldstone road. Magnolia street is also 35 and runs parallel to fieldstone. This street should be reduced to 25 as well for the same reasons. I know it may not stop people from speeding but I think it is a step in the right direction to make our streets safe for everyone. Please help me make a positive and safe change to our neighborhood.

“Speed Limit Reduction
Town residents can contact the Public Works Department to determine if a reduction in the posted speed limit is appropriate. Speed Limits on local and residential streets may only be reduced to 25 miles per hour, as lower speed limits are more difficult to enforce.
The Town must receive a petition from at least 75% of the property owners on the candidate blocks or a letter from the President of a Homeowners Association (HOA). Reduction of a posted speed limit on a Town street requires the ultimate approval of the Mooresville Town Board of Commissioners.”
