Act 46 Exemption Special Meeting Petition for Montgomery, VT
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
People of Montgomery, VT. By now we should all be aware of the upcoming vote to decide if we will merge our school governance with Berkshire and Bakersfield. No matter what side of the fence you are on, there is one thing we can all agree on: IT IS UNCLEAR WHAT WILL HAPPEN. On one side, there is concern that if we merge school governance, we will lose local control and inherit the other school's debts (in addition to many more unknowns). Then there are those who feel that if we do nothing, we will be forced into merging into a governance structure with whatever schools remain.
There is a third option. We can be deemed an "existing district" for the purposes of Act 46 (the school district merger law) given our geographic isolation , thereby qualifying for an exemption from the requirements of Act 46, and the statewide plan.
Please sign this petition to hold a special meeting to take place before November 20 to explore and vote on this option.
