With many students and teachers having COVID, the omicron variant being much more contagious, and the COVID 19 virus killing hundreds of people per day; we must have a course of action. Fortunately we did, the plan for MCPS was that if a school had more than 5% of students with COVID then said school would shut down. But Montgomery County removed this plan, and with it being removed COVID cases will increase, when the cases increase, the deaths increase, maybe not deaths of students but deaths none the less. Although virtual learning may not be fun or even at all academically helpful, It stops the spread of the COVID 19 virus. And the sooner we go virtual, the sooner we won’t have to worry about going virtual ever again. This petition moves for Montgomery County Public Schools to BRING BACK THE 5% THRESHOLD.
