The Montana Growth Agenda seeks to reform the way we do business in Montana by developing free-market solutions to the rising cost of healthcare, reducing regulations to develop our natural resources, reducing the size and scope of government to lower taxes on individuals and jobs creators, reforming education to promote accountability and choice for teachers, parents, and students, and reforming our legal system to promote a fair and impartial judiciary.

Specific Policy Provisions:

Healthcare - The Washington takeover of health care has increased costs, decreased quality, and put special interests in charge of Montanans’ health. The Growth Agenda asks elected officials to lower healthcare costs and improve quality by reducing waste, fraud and abuse in the system, implementing malpractice reform, and incentivizing personal accountability to minimize avoidable medical conditions. The Growth Agenda also calls on your to, where possible, resist the federal government healthcare takeover and preserve a patients’ right to choose their own health care.

Natural Resources - In order to promote energy independence and economic prosperity, the Growth Agenda asks policymakers to develop all sources of Montana energy. Additionally, as unnecessary regulation and policies that pick winners and losers of the energy sector costs Montana jobs, the Growth Agenda asks policymakers to limit regulations, fight frivolous lawsuits, and support free-market energy policies to put Montana to work.

Taxes and Spending - High taxes and more government spending threaten to strangle our job creators. In order to unlock our economic potential, the Growth Agenda asks elected officials to reduce the tax burdens on individuals and businesses by stopping government growth. Additionally, in order to prevent our children and grandchildren from being saddled with billions of dollars of debt, we ask our elected leaders to lessen government spending to sustainable levels as well as address our $8 billion pension liability.

Education - In order to ensure an education system that guarantees all students have the opportunity to realize their education potential, the Growth Agenda asks policymakers to work towards a system that holds school districts accountable for student achievement, promotes school choice, and places parents and teachers in control of education, not the bureaucracy in Helena.

Legal Reform - In order to promote a more fair and impartial judiciary, Montana’s elected members of the justice system, need to be held to a higher standard when campaign and serving in Montana.  The Growth Agenda will promote policies that increase accountability and transparency in the justice system while implementing reforms aimed at making Montana more business friendly.  Right now Montana ranks 45th for overall legal climate, severely trailing neighboring states. The Growth Agenda will emphasize tort reform to reduce frivolous lawsuits, enacting policies to promote timely resolution of disputes, and reforms that assert state authority over state issues in the wake of federal government overreach.
