We are trying to get our town’s (Monroe) board to build a new skatepark at Smith’s Clove Park in Monroe, NY. The current state of the park is less than ideal, with cracks all over the ground. The ramps are rusty and need to be replaced. If these issues are addressed, more people will come to skateboard. As a skateboarder, my friends and I have come to the skatepark and were not satisfied.

Also, the Smith’s Clove Park skatepark is so small that only one or two people can use it at once. This leads to an intolerable waiting time. This makes the skateboarding experience boring and slow. I usually come to the skatepark with 3 or more of my friends, and most of the time we’re just waiting for our turn to ride on small, badly built ramps and big cracks.

Rebuilding the Smith’s Clove Park skatepark will deeply affect the skateboarding community in Monroe, NY. It will provide an amazing new skateboarding experience and would improve the town’s reputation. A new skatepark is a great way to bring the skating community together!
