We Need Free Parking and Transport At Monash
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
Monash University charges $400/year for parking.
Public transport to and from campus can add up to even more--with concession. (Lots of students aren't eligible for concession fares.)
Free parking has been removed from the campus. Queues of 45 minutes at Huntingdale Railway Station are pretty common.
If we don't have rich families paying for our transport, dropping out because we can't get to school is a real possibility.
We demand that Monash use its $200 million annual "surplus", plus its influence with the state government, to:
- Bring free parking back on campus, and massively expand it
- Fund more frequent & free buses, from early morning to late night, to Huntingdale station
- Support transport concessions for International & Postgraduate students: they have to endure financial distress while they balance work and study, too, but they don't get any transport concession!
