Why this petition matters

Started by JASON QIANG

I am a student from Monash University. Just this afternoon, I received an email from Monash University requesting me to Register my vaccination status. Since I had not been vaccinated, I immediately contacted Monash Connect by phone, and the monash Connect staff told me that firstly I could not take the online exam like students in other countries, and secondly I could not take the on campus exam unless I had been vaccinated. This will lead to my failure of this unit and also affect my graduation. Monash University should have told me from the beginning of this semester that I could not take the exam. First of all, it is my right to choose not to be vaccinated. Second, the Australian government has not called for compulsory vaccination.  Even if I get vaccinated now, I won't be able to catch the exam on the 8th. Since there is a two-week gap between the first and second shots, it is so unfair for students who do not get vaccinated. I asked that unvaccinated students be allowed to take an online exam
