Currently, every year during Minecon/ Minecraft Live, there is a vote to decide what update will be added to the game. There are three options, and the option with the most votes ends up in the game. However, it shouldn't work like this. It's meant to make the community feel more involved, like they get to decide what happens in the update, however, it really does more harm than good.

Rather than making players feel more involved, it really just makes them feel disappointed. They get really excited about an update, just to find out its never going to happen. And its not decided by a majority either, because theres three options. This usually means that less than 50% of the player-base want the winning mob. For example, this year, the Glow Squid won. The result of the original polls were 28% in favor of the Moobloom, 35% in favor of the Iceologer, and 37% in favor of the Glow Squid. This means that 63% of the voters DID NOT want the Glowsquid, however it won because there were three options. This means that more fans were upset by the outcome than happy with it.

We think that it shouldnt work like this. That is why we have come up with a couple solutions.

1. Have only 2 options. This one isnt the most ideal, but if theres only 2 options instead of 3, then atleast a majority of the fans will be happy instead of a minority of them.

2. Don't have a vote at all. If there is no vote, then theres no way for people to be upset when they get excited for an update just to find out if will never happen.

3. Have the vote decide which will be added first, instead of wether or not it will be added at all. This way, players may still feel involved in the update, but everyone still wins because they know the update they got excited for will still eventually happen.

We hope that with this petition that if the Minecraft developers realize how many people are upset with how things are now, then they will decide to use one of our solutions or come up with their own so a larger portion of the fan base will be happy with each update.
