The proposed nationwide NRC, which till now remains just a proposal, if implemented will target illegal immigrants in India.

But Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhist, Jains and Parsis coming from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh won't be affected, if they claim they have arrived in India after fleeing religious Persecution. Dividing alleged migrants into Muslims and non-Muslims, the bill "explicitly and blatantly seeks to enshrine religious discrimination into law, contrary to our long-standing, secular constitutional ethos". If it is genuinely aimed at protecting minorities, the bill should have have included Muslim religious minorities who have faced persecution in their own countries - Ahmadis in Pakistan and Rohingyas in Myanmar , for Example. The constitution prohibits religious discrimination against its citizens, and guarantees all persons equality before the law and equal protection of the law. And therefore this unconstitutional act should be scraped right now the bill is part of a BJP agenda to marginalise Muslims. We are equal citizens of India and do not need any papers to prove it. 
   THere has been huge protests all across India against this but instead of doing anything the govt is brutally attacking the protesters and firing and killing them. The protests which took place in jamia milia a university in Delhi was attacked by the police and they entered students hostels, libraries and starting firing tear gases. In times like this we shud all stay united and protest against this.
