The Forensic Biotech Academy of James C. Enochs High School formally petitions to make a change for the graduating seniors of our program: to be recognized and awarded with Honor Chords at graduation. For the past 12 years, none of the graduating seniors have ever received such an award for their graduation and should deserve it for their coursework and contributions to the scientific community. We deserve this honor for many reasons. For one, compared to any other science course in Modesto City Schools, we run more labs, and have more practical skills than any other graduating senior (this includes AP level students) and other students in the district of Modesto City Schools. This program exceeds Enoch's standards and sets high expectations for students and prepares them for college level courses. The academy has also had the opportunity to work with one of the very rare 3-D Bio printer and even made it live on Good Day Sacramento news station. Even the Modesto Bee was present to see us demonstrate how to use this machine (Modesto Bee 3D Bio Printer). Also, our partnership with the HITACHI Corp. has even allowed us to work with a Scanning Electron Microscope that can take close up views of microscopic objects that a regular compound microscope wouldn't be able to. This is just the beginning of our class year and there is much more to come. The students themselves are mentally focused and skill ready to walk in a college lab confidently and perform college level experiments and laboratory write ups. Statistically speaking, the majority of the students that graduate from this program go on and attend colleges/universities and have a 100% graduation rate. Some students who never had a plan after high school have changed and attend college due to the exposure to different careers associated with Forensics and Biotechnology. Also with their knowledge, the students of the Forensic Biotech academy have done many outreach programs and after school events at local schools and colleges and have educated many young children and expose them to science and some lab experiments. This year we have had many opportunities to work with skilled individuals such as the President from SE3D and Hitachi USA, a fire investigator, a sergeant from the army and even former students from the program that are in college.

Last year we attempted to have this honor but was not successful but we will not give up. We wish for the graduating seniors of 2018 to have the honor of graduating with chords as well as the next generations of academy students. We urge you to please help us get recognized for all of our hard work in these past four years and finally grant us this honor.
