The MoD has recently decided to buy Sporrans made in Pakistan as opposed to those made in Scotland.  This would appear to be a cost saving measure however it is at odds with the aim of preserving heritage crafts within the UK. Even Prince Charles supports this.

Last week sporran making was placed as "at risk" by the Heritage Crafts Association, the MoD's decision seems to be based solely on cost and doesn't take into account the risk of skills being lost. 

This is a relatively small procurement decision that should be overturned in favour of sourcing from within the UK
