Jeremy Neff started this petition to Mobile City Councilman - District 5 - Joel Daves

To the Mobile City Council Members:

We, the here below signed property owners on Durande Dr, oppose the proposed sale of land brought before the council on March 26th 2019 under Ordinance 88-013.

88-013 Ordinance: Authorize the sale of City property located on Durande Drive not now needed by the City of Mobile (sponsored by Councilmember Joel Daves and Mayor Sandy Stimpson) (submitted by Brad Christensen and Michelle Melton, REAM Department).

We ask that a vote on this ordinance not be taken until notice has been provided to all owners adjacent to or directly affected by the land in question.

Known as the Florida Street Extension, this property has was initially proposed to be sold to JPV-BTS, LLC under:

88-010 Ordinance deeming vacant property on Durande Drive not now needed for public or municipal purposes and authorizing the sale to JPV-BTS, LLC (sponsored by Council member Daves & Mayor Stimpson) (submitted by Brad Christensen and Michelle Melton, REAM Department).

A petition by members of the Delwood community asks the Council to reject the sale of the property to JPV-BTS, LLC and instead sell to a group of Delwood residents. That ordinance (88-013) is up for a vote on April 2nd 2019.

We are concerned that the proposed sale of this City Property - whether to JPV-BTS, LLC, the residents of Delwood or any other party - was not disclosed to residents of Durande Dr. This property is directly adjacent to 15 of the 23 homes on Durande Dr.

Although the city is responsible for the upkeep of the property, many residents - among them some of the signers of this petition - have in fact for many years maintained the property in ways such as litter and trash collection, mowing and overall grooming.

A month's delay on a vote will allow for a fair notification to all Durade Dr property owners and will likely provide valuable candor about the sale of the property, its use and the effect to be had on the affected residents.
