Boxed Water as an Alternative to Single Use Plastic Water Bottles at MNSU

The ultimate goal of our campaign is to reduce the use of plastic products on campus. We are hoping to reduce the use of plastic by implementing boxed water as an alternative to plastic water bottles in places such as the Centennial Student Union, Einstein's Bagels, Simply To-Go, Chet's Place, etc.
30 billion plastic water bottles are consumed in the United States alone per year. Furthermore, 80% of those end up in a landfill or the ocean. There is a patch of garbage, mainly plastic, the size of Texas in the Pacific Ocean. The particles that are used in plastic are also harmful for the human body. Consuming single use plastic contributes to the degradation of our environment. We are not trying to change the way you drink water, we are just trying to change the packaging that you drink water out of.
