Hey Rob Manfred & MLB, keep the minor league system in Montana!
Why this petition matters
According to a new proposal by MLB, the league would reduce the number of teams from 160 to 120 in the minor league system. This will eliminate leagues like the Pioneer league that have 3 teams in Montana. Without these teams in Montana, the closest professional baseball games to watch live would be an 8 hour drive away.
It is important to our state to have these live activities to do with families and friends. Professional baseball in our communities set an example for young athletes to keep working toward their dreams and goals.
These teams also provide an economic boost to our cities. Having these 38 home games every season provides jobs at the stadium, fills hotel rooms, and helps notable causes raise money through in game promotions.
What may seem like a small budget cut to the MLB, is a huge blow to these communities that are without professional sports. For the future fans of baseball, we urge you to continue the strong tradition of baseball in states like Montana where we need it the most. On behalf of the Billings Mustangs, Missoula Paddleheads, and Great Falls Voyagers, please keep professional baseball in our state!
