Rally for Riverview Update

Coalition for a Healthy Riverview

Apr 21, 2017 — We continue to grow stronger!

We are very pleased that MLA Selina Robinson made a statement in the Legislature in March and MP Fin Donnelly made a statement in Parliament on April 11th calling on the Federal Government to support the work of the CHR.

We were also present at the announcement on April 17th by John Horgan committing to keeping the Riverview Lands in public hands and used for the purposes of Mental Health (see attached photo) as well as committing to dedicating a Ministry to Mental Health and Addictions.

We now have over 900 people signed up to our Coalition for a Healthy Riverview facebook group.

We feel that we are getting close to attaining the momentum and support we need to restore Riverview as a modernized Centre of Excellence for Mental Health set within the existing arboretum and surrounding green-space.

Our next action is the RALLY FOR RIVERVIEW to be held on the public lawns of the Riverview Lands. This is an unsanctioned event so it is critical that we have a huge turn-out and media presence. We already have several hundred people expressing interest in attending, prior to reaching out to the media.

We are asking everyone who is concerned about the lack of modernized, accessible mental health and addictions care to come out and stand with the Coalition for a Healthy Riverview in sending a clear message to all our political candidates that we must keep Riverview in public hands for the purpose of Mental Health.

Please attend the Rally and help us to spread the word far and wide. As you know, we have received an overwhelming number of petition signatures and heart-felt, sometimes devastating :( comments from people with respect to mental health and the need to re-open modernized Mental Health and Addictions services at Riverview.
