Rename the athletic field at Williamsville North HS Sam Gang Field

This petition had 300 supporters

We, the Williamsville North High School alumni, petition the Williamsville Central School District School Board  to rename the athletic field at Williamsville North after Samuel Gang, the longest tenured principal in the school's history.  We believe that Sam Gang Field is more representative of the school's philosophy.  This would be a fitting tribute to a great guy who helped shape us into the adults we became.

Sam Gang became principal of Williamsville North in 1970 and was honored in 1990 as New York State Distinguished Secondary Principal by the School Administrators Association of New York State. He retired in 1994.

Involved in student activities, he was Tevye in a student production of "Fiddler on the Roof" and played timpani in a school concert.

He fostered student leadership programs and took many trips with students to leadership camps, Distributive Education Clubs of America programs and musical and athletic events. He also was one of the first principals to enter his school in the Science Olympiads.

We request that the School Board reconsider their decision to name the field after the current superintendent and instead rename it after the man who made the school what it is today - SAM GANG FIELD!
