Mitchell’s Law (Mandatory 24/7 veterinary care facilities)
Why this petition matters

On Sunday August 30th our home became one member less. We came home to find our Cat Mitchell laying on our couch face down and his mouth completely blue. We started CPR immediately. We did an instant google search trying to find a veterinary office close by that was open. The closest office that was open was a 30 minute drive away. 30 minutes! Between the city of Hamilton and Grady veterinary clinic on Winton road there is over 25 traffic lights and there is also some areas that are currently down to one lane due to construction. We unfortunately did not make it in time. They believe that he may of had a blood clot that ruptured due to his legs that he had previous surgeries on from a genetic disorder or a heart attack. Other than his legs causing him to limp on occasion he was an extremely healthy cat that was only 8 years old.
30 minutes and 15 miles is unacceptable for any pet owner to have to drive to have emergency care for their animal. As of right now to my knowledge and research Hamilton County has at least two main 24/7 care facilities. Why is this something butler county is lacking? Why has there been a spike in parvo cases for puppies but yet no animal clinic in Hamilton has offered to change their hours? Please sign this petition to bring a facility like medvet to this area or force the hands of these local offices to make changes! Our home has been turned upside down due to lack of care in this area. The time for change is now. Don’t wait until you lose your animal to make a change. Please help Spread the awareness of what this town is lacking. Our animals need a hospital that is open 24/7 just like we do.
